Six months before our wedding I was the heaviest I have ever been and like most brides to be, I wanted to lose weight and be in the best shape of my life on my wedding day. I was working out 4-5 days a week and I was frustrated because I had hit a plateau! This is where my journey with Advocare began. I started the 24 Day Challenge and lost 16 pounds and leaned up in ways I never thought possible. I also felt amazing and I had more energy than I ever had!
Shortly after I began the 24 day challenge, Mike hopped on board as well because he was recovering from a serious back injury. Within 10 days of the program he saw his abs coming back and was amazed at the transformation his body was going through with little time working out in the gym.
As a hairstylist and salon owner I was exhausted working 60-70 hours a week and my business was running me vs. me running my business. Mike's situation wasn't much different and he was working the same hours in the insurance industry and we had 1 day off together on Sundays, which we called our "Errand Days."
When Monday came around we found ourselves in a Ground Hog Day mentality and got numb to life where everyday was the same. When we arrived home from our honeymoon in April 2009 we were $135,000 in debt and on the brink of filing for bankruptcy. This is where AdvoCare found us and after speaking with our friends, Wayne and Sarah Johnson who initially introduced us to the company in 2005, they showed us a way that we could earn an extra $1,500 - $2,000 a month. That was the hope that we needed.
We then ordered the free DebtBuster System CD from AdvoCare and began writing down on paper everything that we owed and to whom. Step 2 was then putting ourselves on a strict budget and we tracked everything we spent to the dollar. Any extra money at the end of the month went towards paying off our debt. Within our first 30 days we made $1,500 and within 4 months we were making $3,000 a month. Little by little we chunked away at it and in a very short amount of time we gained momentum and excitement because we knew had a solid plan that was working.
Within 12 months we not only paid off all of the $135,000 in debt, but we are now averaging $50,000 a month and it has allowed Mike to retire from Corporate America and I sold my Hair Salon and we have the opportunity to work our business together full time.
Going through this process it has made us realize that we were not alone and that our country is in a major debt crisis. There are thousands of other families across our country who are in similar circumstances right now, struggling to make their mortgage payment, filing for bankruptcy or can't find a solution for their financial struggles.
